PowerVault MD3260 Compatible HBA

Dear Community: Will you please help me to determine if the Perc H800 will be compatible to connect two PowerVaults MD3260. We have receive a donation consisting in one PowerEdge R710 and two MD3260. It has the SAS cables but no controller on the server. I have checked and the R710 will support the Perc H800. The Perc H800 is also a 6Gbps HBA and the disks on the PowerVault are Seagate Constellation ES.3 ST4000NM0023 and 6Gbps. I will appreciate your answers. Best regards,

Hello cocagt,

With an MD3260 you need to use a SAS HBA & not a PERC card.  You will need to get a 6gb SAS HBA.  Here is a link to our support matrix & if you look on page 16 it list out the support HBA’s.  https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/powervault-md3200_support-matrix_en-us.pdf

The reason you don’t want to use the PERC card as it will not see the drives in your MD3260.  The MD3260 has its own raid controllers in it.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi. Thank you very much for your answer. I didn't find a local provider for the kind of controller that you mention but I found one online (in a very popular site) and the model and description is as follow: "DELL 7RJDT Dell 6Gbps Non-RAID SAS / Serial Attached SCSI HBA External Controller". I really appreciate if you can please point me in the right direction with it. Do you consider that this SAS HBA model will work with the MD3260?. Thanks in advance.
