TL 2000 issues

Issues with TL2000 using Backup Exec, backup would not run, discovered that tape was stuck in drive. After removing, still not able to backup. Reading forums suggest that the firmware may require updating. Updated the library firmware with no issues, tried to update the drive, first time it failed after 40 mins, re-ran, again took 40 mins but failed with following error :- HE: fatal system error, flashing error on pipe download
Code: D7 22

it  now shows as:-

Product ID 3573-TL
Currently Installed Library Firmware F.11 / 3.20e
Bootcode Firmware Revision

Upgrade Drive 1 (LTO6 HH SAS) Firmware
Drive Firmware Revision D8E5

Upgrade Library Firmware
Currently Installed Library Firmware F.11

How can i resolve?

Updating firmware rarely fixes anything.

When you removed the tape did you inspect the leader pin inside of it, the drive may have snapped the tape.

Hello kwesit,

Based on the error that you are getting D7 22, you will need to replace the library controller card in your TL2000.  When you get that error, it is recommended to reboot your TL2000 and try the firmware upgrade a second time.  If it fails, the second time then there is an issue with the library controller card.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello kwesit,

The library controller card is the card in your TL2000 with two network connections and one sas connection. Here is the Dell part# 73Y16 for a replacement controller card.  If your TL2000 is still under warranty, then we can replace it for you.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
