Cannot close case cover on Dell T5600

Hello,

I have put an Nvidia Inno3d video card inside T5600. When I close the case cover I see that it has an handle that pushes down the video card. But unfortunately the video card has the 6 pin power connector just under the handle so I cannot close the cover.

What can I do?

Thanks,

Mario

Hi @mgiammarco,

It's been almost 3 months since you post this thread and hopefully the problem already solved. Meanwhile, I'd like to share my experience in case someone looking for an answer on this kind of problem.

When I first get my T5600, I tried install a GTX 960 as testing. The original design of the cover handle was to tighty hold all expression cards and make them safe. However, it led me to the same problem that cover failed to be closed.

After looking at Technical Guidebook, it stated the maximum height of expansion cards being accepted: 111.3mm

As I planned to buy a RTX 2070 for it and no low-profile model exist in the market at that moment, I made research for all brands and found only Zotac fits: 113mm, slightly higher but marginally OK.

Besides, if you plan to replace a brand new PCIe display card, suggest to choose a full length model. Yes, I'm talking about card length now, not height. It's because most full length display card with their power connector located at the end of the card. In other words, it won't jammed with the cover handle indicated as red rectangle below.

Enjoy!

Hi again @mgiammarco ,

You can locate them from Technical Specifications section in the Owner's Manual, like this for T5810. However, most of them simply describe it as "Full Height Supported" and not as detailed as those in T5600.

I further searched and see if any handle bar inside case cover for models you mentioned, and the answer is Yes!

T5820/T7820: 4'09" of this video

You will have to deal with same problem as what happened in T5600. Better choose card with specific small size of height.

Probably I have not explained well because I am not english native but for case cover  I mean the lateral case panel with the handle you can pull to open.

Is there a low profile 6pin extension cable? Is it possible that this thing is happened only to me?

Thanks,

Mario

You did fine; I could easily understand your first post.  Have you tried eBay or Amazon for the cable you're looking for?  "90 degree plug" as part of your search term could help too.

Thanks for reply!

Meanwhile I have ordered this I hope it will be enough: https://www.moddiy.com/products/PCIE-90%C2%B0-L%252dShape-Mini-Low%252dProfile-GPU-Power-Cable-%286%252dPin-Up%252dAngle%29.html

I still do not understand Dell choice considering that I see now that most graphic cards have power connector over the top!

I'm glad you were able to find a cable for it.  Did it work?

I "open" again this thread.

Assuming I will now change my T5600 with a T5810 or T7810 or t5820 where can I find the documentation about max supported height?

Thanks again.

Hi, I've seen you running GtX on your precision. I'm wonder if you encounter any GPU issue like "no cable connected"? Like you stress test your GPU by using Dell SupportAssist and randomly "no cable connected" w/o notify you. Because I'm running Zotac gtx1660ti in my T5610. I face this "no cable connected" issue every time I run SupportAssist video stress test and randomly "no cable connected" issue. But it passed about 30 min running GPU stress test Furmark and Kombustor . Let me know ☺️
