Dell T7500 mismatched memory for dual cpu configuration
So I just bought a T7500 with 48 gbs or ram (6*8gbs) that only came with 1 CPU, wanting two I bought the second riser that came with 24gbs or ram (6*4). After inserting the daughter board with the ram in the above configuration the second cpu and ram was not identified in BIOS and the secondary cpu fan ran at 100%. Assuming that the ram had something to do with it, I pulled all of the 4 gig sticks out and spread the 6 8gb sticks in dimms 1 2 3 for both cpus and that worked great.
In the below link the official dell position for this situation would be for the 4 gig sticks to go on the mainboard and the 8 gig sticks all go on the riser board.
64 | 4 4 4 4 4 4 | 8 8 8 8 8 8
My question for you all is, how does 4*6 + 8*6 = 64 gigs? (Should that equal 72 gigs?) There seems to be 8 gigs missing from the Dell documentation.

Hopefully this helps:
T7500 Tech Guide
T7500 Service Manual
In the Service Manual, you'll be able to click on "About Memory," and go from there.
Newer Dell's are a little different, but in some of the older ones, if the RAM isn't all the same brand, size, and speed, it can cause performance issues. That's not just Dell, as it happens in other PC's as well. One of our Rockstar's, besides having a Dell, has a home built Asus. It'll run a couple of different brands, but not at the same time.
Crucial RAM is guaranteed to work in Dell's and has a lifetime warranty.
Also, in some machines in which RAM can be mixed a bit, if it's different speeds, the PC will run all the RAM at the lowest speed of the lowest RAM.

Thanks for your reply! Since posting this question I've gone back and installed the ram (6* 4gbs on the main board and 6*8gbs on the riser) and the system shows 72 gigs of ram available. So at least in my case my Dell T7500 is happy with it.

Dell T7500 dual cpu configuration
I have a similar issue with my Dell T7500. I recently purchased a riser board and new CPUs to upgrade. Once installed with half the 32Gb of memory for each CPU, when booted the machine fails to reach Post and the fans run at 100%. I have tested each of the new CPUs (Xeon X5690) on the primary board and they both work so faulty CPUs is not the issue. Each memory stick (Hynix 8GB PC3 1006DDR) is identical and it was originally installed and running on the primary board. There were some posts online about providing extra physical support for the dual CPU riser which I have tried without success. Can someone please provide me with a solution? Many thanks.
