Dell precision workstation T5500 cpu bios
I want to upgrade my cpu from an xeon e5630 to xeon a x5690 but I'm afraid of the bios. I'm on the bios Pheonix ROM BIOS PLUS version 1.10 A06 and will I need to update my bios after I install the the new cpu?

Shouldn't be a problem. There's 141 benchmarks on userbenchmark.com of a T5500 with a X5690 in it. You could go through them and match up your specific motherboard # and BIOS version.

It's normally suggested to update the BIOS before updating hardware, not after. If your new hardware doesn't work with the old BIOS (or vice-versa), then your stuck putting the old hardware back in place to update BIOS.
