Do gtx 1650 compatible with Dell T5600?

Hey guys, i just got a secondhand Dell T5600 workstation with one Intel Xeon e5-2609 and the 635W PSU, and im going to upgrade the standard Quadro 5000 to a GALAX  Geforce Gtx 1650 (1-click oc), but before that i want to ask you guys about the compability, is it compatible? Are there any stuff that i have to know before upgrading the GPU?

On the basis that your current card is an old Fermi based 5000,which was 6 pin, 152 Watt card.

Then your 1650 should not offer any complications as it is a very low power draw at 75w. The spec says your card will  draw all the power it needs through the PCIe slot anyway and not even need to be connected to the power supply unit.

.Just be aware that it's a fairly low spec card so you won't be running games at 1440 or max/ultra settings.

Once you physically install it, then your res might drop down until you install the correct drivers from nvidia's website.

Hi @DavidMarcello ,

Apart from power draw concerns, pay attention to card dimension as well. Check out this thread that I answered before regarding the PCI card holder inside T5600 case cover limited GPU choices within 111.3mm card height, i.e. overall card height accepted should be almost the same level of the Bracket screwing point. I'm using a ZOTAC RTX2070 AMP Extreme with 113mm, a bit higher than documented limitation but still OK.

For your targeted GALAX GeForce® GTX 1650 EX (1-Click OC), specification stated as 126mm height with Bracket which quite far from the limitation. Also you can tell from the product picture that the overall card height with quite a distance from the Bracket screwing point:

It may lead to the "Cannot close case cover" problem. Beware of it.

1. ATX standard supposes some space between the bracket screw and the side lid. it should not be a problem.

1. Really, there is a problem: https://www.dell.com/community/Precision-Fixed-Workstations/Cannot-close-case-cover-on-Dell-T5600/m-p/6201553#M1102

2. DP chassis usually can acceps ANY PCI board. But the system discussed has no supporting ramp. It is not an issue with the discussed board.

3. ACPI PCI-Power connectors usually have two combined 6+2 connectors for better compatibility. If not, you will need an adapter from Amazon. Connecting 6pin connector to 8-pin socket still may work... these are just parallel power lines since single thin copper lane on PCB can burn out... but sometimes these lanes lead to separate DC-DCs, so the board may fail if the lanes under question are not connected. Check the board manual.

4.On modern Dell boards Hi-power PCI-e slots are labeled. Usually these are 16xlanes slots by default.

Yes. Have a look at this video:

It shows a GTX1660Ti being successfully  installed into a T3500. If that combination works, so will yours.

Do you mean a 1650 or a 1650 Super? Just be aware that the Super variant offers a significant performance uplift for minimal extra outlay.

Not the super, just a regular 1650 but with OC features from GALAX

I noticed that 1660ti requires an 8 pin connector, meanwhile some GTX 1650 (including the one i want to buy) doesn't even require a connector, will this become a problem?

okay thanks for the help

so the card will plugged in just fine and technically compatible but the case won't be able to close, can i do modifications to the cover, for example like cutting the handle?

Hi @DavidMarcello ,

Check out this thread I mentioned before. Some users provided method on how to remove the PCI card holder of T5600.
