Precision T1650: BIOS update fail, bricked
Hello, I bought an used Precision T1650 on eBay. The CPU is a xeon e3 1240 v2. When I received it, the first thing I have done is updating the BIOS, to ensure having latest security patches and stuff. I used the official tool to flash the BIOS, all normally, from A13 to A28
The flash process stopped at 33%, saying "Updating your system's firmware cancelled".
Now, it is not booting at all. All I get is a black screen (monitor does not turn on), keyboard and mouse does not seem to work at all. The fans are running at their full speed, and the HDD light is constantly blinking, even though there is no disk activity.
I am really stuck, and upset about an official flashing tool that basically turned my computer into a brick.
I am looking forward for help.
Regards

Hello r33int,
Although your post was made some time ago, I was just wondering what you finally
did (or couldn't) do about it. I'm having the IDENTICAL problem with a OptiPlex 7010.

Thanks.

Hi,
Unfortunately I could do nothing about this. I just replaced the motherboard and got it working again.
I am pretty sure you could reprogram the bios chip by some way, but I don’t have the hardware nor the competence to do that.
I hope you can get this fixed, goodluck.

The Precision 1650 and Optiplex 7010 aren't models with BIOS recovery, so MB replacement is the way to go.
BIOS RECOVERY 2
Any system that is shipped after December 2015 that has the Intel SkyLake Chipset
BIOS RECOVERY 3
Any system that is shipped after August 2016 or with the Intel Kaby Lake Chipset
Dell BIOS Recovery
