Precision T5600 Sata Driver?

Question

Hi guys.

I got this old t5600 from work.

It works great and I have updated a few components like WIFI card, Graphics, SSD and Ram.

Everything works fine.

It has a Raid controller that I don't use.

I wanted to take out the Raid and plug the SSD into the motherboard.

Like I said it works fine but I don't use the Raid and without it it would just boot quicker.

Anyway when I First installed Windows onto the New SSD, I did it with the SSD plugged into the motherboard.

It said I didn't have the drivers or something, so I put the Raid back in, plugged the SSD into it and it all worked fine.

Anyway, I tried to take out the Raid again now everything is installed and it says I don't have a bootable drive.

I guess I need a driver?

I cant work out what I need to install.

Ignore all the warnings saying I need to install Bios updates etc. I have done it but I wasn't signed in as I don't know what the sign in info would be as it was bought ages ago through work.

@philmb hi, try this to see if it may help:

First, you need to force windows 10 to boot into safe mode by running the command as administrator: bcdedit /set {current} safeboot minimal.
Shut down the computer and take the RAID out, connect SSD to SATA port 0 on motherboard.
Power on, tap F12 and select to enter BIOS . Change the SATA operation mode from RAID to AHCI. Save change and exit, windows will automatically boot to safe mode.
With windows in safe mode, run the command as administrator: bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot
Reboot and windows will start in normal SATA mode with AHCI drivers enabled

If for some reason the command does not work to enter safe mode, simply run it without {current}.

Thanks.   Ill give it a go tomorrow.   So its just basically a Bios settings change.

Wasnt the issue but it did help me.

On my motherboard i have HHD0, HDD1, HDD2, HDD 3 and also SATA 1 and 2.

I was plugging the ssd into the HDD1 and wasnt able to boot.

I moved it to SATA0 were the Optical drive was plugged in and now it boots.

Problem is:
I plugged a second ssd into the SATA1 and it dosnt show, so now i have no optical drive and the second ssd not showing!

@philmb, on the motherboard you have HDD0 (blue), HDD1, HDD2, HDD3, they are for hard drives and SSD. The others with marking ODD0 (white) and ODD1, they are for optical drives. Remove the raid controller and connecting both of your SSD drives to HDD0 and HDD1, connecting your optical drive back to ODD0 (white). Go to BIOS and reset to default settings and save. When machine reboot, tap F12 and select to boot with your installation media (USB drive). Go through the installation process to see if the destination will show your SSD drives.

I saw your other post regarding upgrading processors. It seems that you know your way around and having a good plan to make use of that workstation, it's old but very powerful. To avoid issue, get your processors in pair and identical specs. You may want to wait until that upgrade complete and set up your drives afterward. Don't forget to change out your coin cell batt. as well.

I was bascially missing some drivers that i could not find.

Yes its old but its quite a beast - especially for nothing!

We got a ramsom ware virus so work decided to update a bunch of the pc's.

2 cpu's
64gb ram.

updated the graphics card and a few other things and it multi tasks like champ!
Which is what i want it for.

Yes next thing is 2 x 2687w cpus i think - If i can find them.

Im literally in the same position as you. I got an old T5600 from work that they were going to toss out. I got an SSD and have installed windows 10 onto it, but for some reason it wont boot. When I try to boot to bios to change possible raid settings. I just get a black screen and never can get to the bios. some help would be appreciated.
