M4800 palm rest simulates lid close

Hi guys

Hoping to get a resolution.

I. Just got a refurbished M4800 and on setting up, I noticed it will randomly go into standby.

I eventually found that pushing down on the palm rest was what was causing this. Any ideas how I can solve this? I looked at a disassembly video and can't find anything that looks like a sensor there.

Any other ideas please? As this is rendering the laptop unusable

Thanks

First, you could go into power options, and tell Windows to do NOTHING if the "lid is closed"

Now see this post

you might find a replacement board on ebay.
