Precision 5530 right out of box freezes

My new Dell Precision 5530 was literally minutes old when I decided to apply updates before doing anything else. After a forced restart during updating the laptop then starts freezing up just seconds after I log in.  Multiple restarts yield the same result.

Next, I decide to reinstall Windows 10 on a brand new laptop (which seems ridiculous to me).  I chose not to push any updates.....I used the laptop for 3 hours, installed programs such as VLC, Chrome, etc.... all basic stuff.  I then decide to update again...sure enough same outcome as before.  So, its obviously the Windows update causing the problem.

Anyone come across this issue or know how to fix it.?  I rather not reinstall my OS again and not have this brand new laptop go with proper updates, but it may be my only choice.
