AIO 964 All In One printer

I have tried everything from calling support sitting on the phone for 9 hrs. one Sunday on Feb12,rebooting, to changing USB cables,to deleting files that Dell told me to, to exchanging printers from Dell and I am still have the error popup at boot saying....
Error in c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3\DLCJtime.dll
Missing entry:RunDLLEntry
None of the six people I talked to in Dell support could figure it out ??? Now what???
I had three people(including the Senior Technician on the floor ) working with  me...
They said they were having a big problem with this printer and to give them a week or so to get with a resolution specialist... Well I have gave them since 2/17/2006 and nothing.... No call or nothing???   There should be someone out there that knows something about this minor but annoying problem...

What model of PC do you have, and what is the Operating System?

I have the same problem.  This is the second XPS 600 I have received.  They both had this problem.

When I removed the the software it was no longer an issue.

This is what my error says  (  error in windows\system32\spool\drivers w 32x86\3\dlcjtime.dll   )

Do you have the following entry in your Windows Registry?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node

To check this click on 'Start', then 'Run' and type in 'Regedit'.  Press enter, you can then view the contents of your PC's Windows Registry.  Let me know if the entry is there!

Ok I went to Regedit and highlighted the entry and deleted it.  Hope that was OK?:smileywink:

Oh, and I already removed the software so I just want to make sure I edit the registry correctly.  Thanks,Dan

Ok, that's the entry that is causing the .dll issue with your 964 printer.  You need to first completely uninstall your printer software/drivers from Add/Remove programs.  Then go back into your registry and manually delete the 'wow6432node'.  Reboot the PC and then perform a re-install of the 964 drivers/software.  This should cure your .dll error message woes. ;)  Let us know how it works!

HEY IT WORKED!!!!  No more error message..  So far so good.  Man!  I spent hour and hours on this problem with the phone techs on my first 600.

If this is truly a fix for this problem then Dell should read this!!!!

THANKS!!!   I hope:smileywink:

I am absolutely amazed at the incompetance of Dell tech support.  I made a call to them in the beginning of DECEMBER with this same problem.  You would think that 3 months later, they would at least recognize that there is a problem.  It appears many of you were guided through the loading and reloading time and time again with no solution to be offered, only complete incompetance on the other end of the phone.  If the tech support at Dell actually read this message board, it would be quite obvious to them that there is a problem and it cannot be resolved by merely installing and uninstalling the software.  Thank you to the person who came up with the temporary solution (deleting dlcjcats) and a great big double thank you to the person who determined the permanent fix.  I am going to try this the first chance I get.

Hey THANKS again.  !!!   How did you find out about this fix?  This was a huge problem for lots of people.  It made my last 600 really messed up.  So far I have been able to install all of the software/Drivers  that I previously was unable to install on my first system that I had to send back.

I may just be a HAPPY DELL CUSTOMER NOW!!!

I'm glad it worked out for you!  The problem is with the Creative Labs soundcard you have, for some reason that piece of hardware is creating the Wow6432node in the registry.  This is usually reserved for 64 bit Operating Systems, not 32 bit (like the OS you are running).  When the 964 installation is run, it sees that node in the registry (and thinking it's a 64 bit OS) attempts to run the 64 flavor of SW/driver installation.  By deleting the affected registry entry, you are clearing the installation confusion for the 964 AIO and allowing the proper 32 bit installation to run.

Well, feel free to spread the word to whoever may need it!  The problem is, this may not be the fix for all of the people out there who are experiencing the time.dll error messages, but it will fix probably 90% or so.  You fell into that 90%. ;)  There are a couple instances of this happening on Windows XP Pro machines (not Media Center Edition), and this may be due to another registry key (not the wow6432node) that is fooling the 964 install into attempting to run the 64 bit flavor of software installation.  If I hear of any additional/new info regarding this problem, I'll be sure to post it in this thread.  Good luck!

Does any one know if this fix will cure the no boot issue that I have when this printer is installed?
The errors I can live with but my Xps 600 gives me a memory failed error and will not boot up.
This is only with this printer installed. When I uninstsl it I have no problems with boot up at all??

Gentlemen,

The latest Creative drivers for your soundcard on the Dell download site has solved the Run dll. error problem for the AIO 964.

I have printed and rebooted several times with no error message.

It took them 3 months, but they got it done.  Happy days.
