Dell Photo AIO 966 Printer Driver & Windows 8/8.1

Hello. My new Dell Inspiron 2020 AIO PC doesn't recognize my Dell Photo AIO 966 Printer. A search on the Dell site seems to indicate the 966 is not supported or doesn't have updated drivers. So, does this mean I have to purchase another printer? If so, is Dell offering discounts on trade-ins toward compatible printers? Thank you.

Hello LACAFFIE,

You are correct that there is no official drivers available for Windows 8/8.1. That being said there are Windows 7 drivers that you should be able to use in compatibility mode. Please review the link below for steps.

lacaffie,

If you cannot get the Windows 7 drivers to work, try following the instructions below and see if the printer installs.

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print job in the queue.

Disconnect the printer.

Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed.
Manual Printer Driver Removal

Download the Vista 32-bit drivers for Windows 8.1 32-bit or the Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 8.1 64-bit. Install the Vista drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on).
