Lost install disk for v305w. Need ABBYY Finereader Sprint

I was able to download the drivers, but now when I go to save a scan to PDF it tellsme that the OCR software is not present. Where can I download the ABBYY Finereader Sprint that came with the printer.

Thanks,

Fernando

Fernando,

Without the printer disk, you'll have to use a third party sofware. Try downloadind and installing Simple OCR it should work nicely with your printer.

Many thanks Rick.

I assume that the Dell software will "link-up" with the OCR software and should not get the error message. Yes?

Thanks again,

Fernando

Fernando,

I would think it would link up with the Dell Software. If it doesn't you can use Simple OCR separately.

No go. Still tells me that the "OCR Program Missing".

Mind you, if I select scan to Adobe from the printer it works. I am only getting this error when I use the Imaging Toolbox.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Fernando,

I do not have the Dell Imaging Toolbox, so I cannot find any settings for you.

You should be able to add the application you want to scan to, somewhere in Dell Imaging Toolbox. Here's how with Dell's two other programs. Update list of applications to send scans to

You now have an Optical Character Recognition program. If you need to, you should be able to open Simple OCR and scan from that. If using Windows 7, you might have to install the program in the compatibility mode.

unimatter,

The OCR Program is only on the printer disk. It cannot be downloaded. You can try using Simple OCR

I am having the same problem with Dell v505w.  When I scan from the PC using Dell Imaging Toolbox and then try to save to PDF, it gives me the error that OCR program is missing.  However, when scanning, I did not select to convert to OCR, I am not trying to do anything with OCR!  Please help.

Thanks for the tip but my point is that i am not selecting the "Convert to Text using OCR" option, so it should not need an OCR program to convert to PDF.  I just need the images converted to PDF, I never use OCR, how can I get it to create a PDF and forget about OCR?

 unimatter,

I noticed that my printer goes through the OCR Program to make the pdf. I'm not exactly sure how it works but I'm almost certain you still need the OCR Program to scan to.

After trying everything else... I found that if I "manually" initiated the scan from the printer - scan to computer - and not use the 'toolkit' - then I could at least get the file (as a pdf) on the computer.

Fernando,

I had the same problem you had.  I emailed Abbyy Sprint (Abbyy USA Technical Support[support@abyyusa.com), told them that I had lost the Abbyy Sprint Finereader Sprint that came with my computer, and Abbyy quickly sent me a link with the executable file to re-install my Abby FineReader 6.0 Sprint Plus.  I have sucessfully re-installed it.
