Print driver host for applications has stopped working 5100cn

I recently upgraded my laptop from a 80gb SSD to a 240gb SSD and did a fresh install of win 8.1... My old SSD was also a win 8.1 and my Dell 5100cn printer worked fine, and still does if I put the old hard drive in...

I cant figure out what is going wrong. When I try to print I just keep getting "Print driver host for applications has stopped working"

Further information if it matters, when i view devices and printers on my new install my default printer reads "Dell Printer 5100cn PS" but when I view devices and printers on the old drive it reads "Dell Laser Printer 5100cn PCL" which makes me think I am not installing the same drivers/software.. I have tried multiple drivers in normal and compatibility mode and for the life of me I cant figure out what I am doing wrong..
