V313w BLack squares all over Printouts!!
I have had my printer just over a year so it is out of warranty.
It has recently been printing black /grey squares of different sizes and shades all over the an printout I do.
I have tried a deep clean which did not do anything, there is ink in the cartridges so I know it is not that.
There is no problem when I scan any documents so the scanner seems fine.
I do not know much about printers so If anyone does have an answer please could you use basic terms as I am a bit of a dummy when it comes to techincal jargen!
I would appreciate any feeedback as I only just replaced my last printer which went wrong and could not be fixed due to the print head or something and would of cost just as much to fix as the printer was worth and I have so much paperwork I need to do get through for charity i volunteer for.
thank again
Lisa

Hi,
Welcome to the Community.
As you said scanner works fine so place a document on the scanner and try and copy it, if it’s still same print head needs to be replaced.
If there are no issues in copying then it’s either printer drivers or the computer’s settings.
Which operating system (Windows 7, vista or xp) are you using?
Kindly get back so that we could help you further. Glad to help.
Thanks,

It prints fine from scanning a document.
It prints fine from colour as well.
It just seems when using the black ink cartridge.

Livelifelisa,
The black squares, they're showing up using a certain program, like Microsoft Word?

Livelifelisa,
I have seen post about it showing on the Microsoft Word Documents.
Try Cleaning the Printhead on Dell AIO V313w, V515w, V715w, P513w, and P713W Printers and see if that helps.
You can also try reading Troubleshooting Printhead Problems on the Dell AIO V313w, V515w, V715w, P513w, and P713W Printers I usually suggest shaking the Dell Series cartridges before reseating them.
I have seen this mentioned a while back and cannot remember the solution. I can't remember if replacing the printhead solved the problem or not. If under warranty, you can contact Dell. If not under warranty, you can try a Replacement Printhead

Hi carlatm,
Firmware update for the printer should take care of the problem.
To update the Firmware software for the printer follow the below steps:
Note: Firmware can be updated by connecting the printer and computer with a USB cable,
Use this link for help: http://tinyurl.com/5rvkscs
If the issue persists the after updating the firmware and deep clean of printhead, the printhead needs to be replaced.
In case the printer has active warranty, please private message the system service tag, contact number and registered owner’s name.

I just passed my warranty period with my V715w Dell printer and it began to print light grey squares of different sizes across the document. I disconnected the power supply and waited for a peroid of time but upon powering it up and trying to print another document the same thing happened.
I have run Dell laptops for eleven years through my company on three year leases and each one of them had hard drive issues during the lease period.
Thinking that laptops are just prone to those frequent failures I went ahead and purchased a new one for my wife. It sets at home and gets only limited use and it has been nothering but trouble.
Now I've got this Dell printer and it it is giving me trouble three months after the warranty ends!
Please Dell give me one positive experience with a Dell product.

eggertg,
Trying to remember the solution.
First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs from the queue.
Make sure the printer is not usb cable connected.
Start, control panel, programs and features, your printer, uninstall.
Restart the computer. Make sure the printer was removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal
With the computer online, insert the printer disk, choose additional computer, network and follow the instructions.
Reinstalling the printer, if my memory serves me correctly, corrects the problem.
If that does not work, then try reinstalling Microsoft Word, that's the program that you're using, correct?
