3100cn, Windows 10 driver?
Any updates on the availability or workaround for Windows 10 driver for the Windows 98/2000/Vista/ME/XP/7 3100cn printer. The printer works beautifully even after 8 years and I hate to see it trashed.
thanks,
v

@CollinCatsThe Dell Open Print Driver does not require you to select any printer model, it supports them all.
As an aside, it is using a PCL5 interface, so there are likely some PCL5 drivers out there which are compatible with the printer on Win 10. However, I remember that before I found the Dell Open Print Driver I had tried others with no success - either they only printed monochrome/B&W or simply did not work.

Hello V,
There are no plans to update the current drivers past Windows 7 32/64-bit. That being said you should still be able to install the printer on Windows 10 using compatibility mode. Please see the link below for further information.

Hey Joseph E.,
The Dell 3100cn printer is a "Color Laser" printer, not a Black only printer. I say this because you should know that and you should also know that installing the printer on a Windows 10 computer using compatibility mode will work if you want to print in Black only. Did you even test this point before responding to the question? Our company has five (05) Dell 3100cn printers - printing color documents each and every day, for the last eighteen (18) years.
So, my first thought is "What the Heck - Dell". Why on earth would you not update the driver for Windows 10? Why? This is probably the best printer that Dell has made and sold in the last 20 years.
You know very well that soon we will all have to upgrade to Windows 10. So if I have this correct your plan is to leave us in a lurch to fend for ourselves.

Is this one digital printer? I have been searching for something which can be used in different purposes like copier, printer and scanner.

I don't see the basic 3100cn printer on the list your link provided. Which 31XX version driver did you find worked correctly with the basic 3100cn?
Love the printer and hate to lose it when all my stuff converts to Windows 10.
Thanks

I have faced some serious issues between Windows 10 and my Printer. It seems like Windows 10 system did not identify the printer is online because it shows that my Pirner is offline or it can happen that this issue arise from the printer side so can anyone tell me how to fix printer offline windows 10. I don't have any idea that why this issue is showing and how can I resolve this.

@bgarry55The 3100cn is not multi-function, only color printer.

Hello Norman,
Is there a workaround for a Dell Windows 11 computer to function with a Dell 3100cn laser printer?
Thanks, Ben

I know your post was 3 years ago, but I set up an account just to say thanks for that. I could not get a working windows 10 driver for the 3100cn, so it's been collecting dust for a few years since I updated my last Win7 machine. I said I need to pitch this thing or figure it out, found your link to Dell Open Driver. Installed it and put in the IP. Fired off a test print paper jam, cleared it. Tried again, perfect print.
Thanks rsinj!
