Activation key for Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010

I had Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 pre-installed  (without CD) when I bought my laptop. After reformatting of the hard-drive I downloaded MS-Office with my initial provided activation key from the Microsoft website. The activation key was recognized by Microsoft before the download started. At the beginning of the installation the activation key was recognized by the installation program. When I started an individual program, i.e. WORD or EXCEL, the program requests for the activation key. My previous recognized activation key results now in an error message "invalid activation key".

Can anybody give me advise how I get my MS Office program activated. You can direct answer me at <ADMIN NOTE: Email id removed per privacy policy>

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers

Hi Peter,

I suggest you to check if the MS office is activated using the following steps:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click All Programs, and then click Microsoft Office.
  3. Select any Office program. For example, select Microsoft Word 2010.
  4. Click the File tab.
  5. Click Help, and then check if the MS office 2010 is activated.

If MS office 2010 is not activated, please follow the steps from this link to activate it: http://bit.ly/19qoo4b

Select Microsoft Office 2010 from the list.

Please post the results.

Yeah, find your code that was sent with computer. I talked to support for hours, and because I didn't try to launch in the first 30 days of having the computer, supervisor A. BAGCHI from overseas, said there was nothing they could do!  We've been buying Dell exclusively since the 1980s and because of this NO MORE!! if something is paid for you should be able to access nomatter when you launch it!!! Bye Bye DELL!!!!!

I have the same problem with Dell support. Product code unreadable in Office. Had to call repeatedly and will not order any software from  Dell again.

Its not a Dell problem but a Microsoft problem.  Digital Copies of office come with a piece of paper with the key on it.  If you trash that, there is no way to get the key back and you have to buy a new one.  If you do have your key and its correct but Office is not accepting it, you have to contact Microsoft.  Again Dell does not have any access to the keys or anything like that.
