I have emailed cyberlink but they havnt responded and I have tried reinstalling the software but it still doesnt work.

JohnBoyyy,

It's linked to the old video card. Get the updated version.

Perhaps you can help me. I just received a Dell 8400. Movie DVDs play fine with the included Dell Cyberlink player software. I would like something a bit more full-featured so I downloaded the full version of Cyberlink Power DVD 6. The software loaded without errors but now I have no audio when playing DVDs. I've verified all the configuration settings.

Meanwhile all my other Windows applications have audio... including Musicmatch.

So as a last resort I removed PowerDVD 6 and re-installed the Dell-provided freebie and viola.... movies play with sound again.

What could be the problem?  I've tried various DVD player packages on my old Dell 8200 and they all worked perfectly. What could be causing the 8400 to be so picky about DVD sound ?

Yes, I uninstalled 5, rebooted, and then installed 6.  The problem really has been puzzled.

jgayman,

Did you uninstall 5, reboot and then install 6? Or install 6 over the existing 5?

I seem to recall this is an option within the PowerDVD application itself.  There is a checkbox to set whether the program starts to play the DVD automatically when it is inserted.

I have Power DVD DX on my system, which came factory installed by Dell.  When I load up a disk, the program shuts down with an error saying that the program needs to shut down.  Then it gives me a pop-up with a link to the Power DVD website.  When I go there, the update downloads does not give the DX version.  When I contacted them, they said that this software was specifically designed by Dell & I needed to contact Dell.  Do you offer a patch for this software?  I checked the link provided earlier in this thread & even tho I can read a word of what the website says, I do not see a DX version.  Can you help me?
