Dell Update Application broken

I recently updated the Dell Update Application on my Dell Inspiron 3670 desktop PC, and now when I run it and click on CHECK it hangs with the Warning: An operation is currently in progress. Please wait until it completes.
The progress bar is stuck on "Operation is 40% completed..." I've tried restarting my computer several times, but
it still does this. Is there some way to repair or remove/reinstall this application to fix it ?

I had this problem too. The simpler solution that worked for me was to go to Windows Services, and restart the service "Dell Client Management Service". Then, Dell Update displayed 70%, and on one more close/open of Dell Update, it completed the check normally.

Having identical problem, windows repair option ineffective. Please advise next steps. This problem should’ve been fixed if it’s been going on for a month…

Solution Update, got it working in the end.....!!

1. it all went wrong in v3.1.2
2. update to v3.1.3 did not help.
3. uninstalled Dell Command v3.1.3
4. uninstalled Dell Optimizer Application v6.3.2
5. installed Dell Command | Update for Windows 10 v3.1.0
6. installed Precision optimizer Application v6.4.5

This worked for me. ....

I tried restarting "Dell Client Management Services" also. I also tried uninstalling and installing older versions 3.1.2 and 3.1.1 and still having same issue. I think I've tried all of the recommended solutions except reinstalling Windows (which is obviously not worth doing...)   Still just waiting for Dell to fix this bug.

I have tested six different Dells. The four Optiplex 3050s with BIOS 1.13.5 are fine and do not have this issue. Two OptiPlex 3060s with BIOS 1.7.1 both have this issue. (That is the most recent BIOS for each computer.)

The culprit is the Intel Wi-fi6 AX200 device driver that causes the Dell Command | update to get stuck at 10% (at least in our All Dell Latitude shop). Update to this driver:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29520/Windows-10-Wi-Fi-Drivers-for-Intel-Wireless-Adapters?product=189347

old driver version: 21.20.1.1 dated: 5/30/2019
new driver version: 21.90.3.2 dated 05/04/2020

Good luck

Here's my fix.

Dell Command | Update was sticking at 10% when checking for updates.

I manually went to the Downloads and Drivers for my service tag and downloaded and installed the "Intel Management Engine Components Installer".

Without even restarting I ran Command | Update again and the check completed! I was back on track to get the rest of the updates I needed.

Same problem, stuck on 40%.

Fix....

Buggy Dell updater Dell-Update-Application_5765W_WIN_3.1.1_A00.  Uninstalled previous version, then installed v3.1.1 with admin rights.  Update check w v3.1.1 found 4 new updates.  After install complete and reboot, recheck with v3.1.1 hung at 40% again.  Closed, recheck again...still stalled at 40%.  Closed, recheck again...updates OK.

The latest version v3.1.1 is buggy.

I had the same problem, and Repairing the Dell Update worked for me. I still have the mismatch between the version shown in Control Panel and the application itself, but everything now works OK.
