How to uninstall old version of Dell Support Alerts?
I've been trying to unistall the old version of the Dell Support Alerts that came on my Dimension 8300 when I bought it from Dell.
I tried using Add or Remove Programs. When I click Remove on Dell Support, the unistaller starts up, runs for a while and then says Cancelling... and quits leaving the program installed.
I chatted this morning with a Dell tech and she said the problem was I had to do this in Safe Mode. So I tried that but when I clicked Remove I got the message "The Windows Installer could not be accessed. This can occur if our are running in Windows in Safe Mode." So clearly the tech didn't know what she was talking about.
I tried to reconnect with Dell and after an hour wait was told they couldn't answer the question.
So I sent Dell an email describing my problem and got back instructions on how to remove Dell Support from the displayed list of installed programs whe you launch Add or Remove Programs. Again not what I'm looking for.
Does anybody know how to uninstall this darn thing? Please don't tell me to delete the directory out of Program Files because that will leave all of the registry entries hanging around. It seems like there should be a way.
Thanks in advance,
josh

Never mind. I just read the FAQ on the board and followed the instructions for downloading and installing 2.1 which paradoxically uninstalled my old version of Dell Support Alerts.
Thanks to the author of the FAQ.
