McAfee incompatible with Windows 7?
I bought a lovely Inspiron laptop the other day, including in the price a nice deal with McAfee antivirus. When I got the machine I found the software had not been pre-loaded so went to the Dell site to download it. It downloaded - so far so good. But when I tried to install it I got an error message saying the program is not compatible with the system! I repeated the process in case the files had become corrupt in the download process. Nope! Same error. A search on line revealed that there does seem to be a problem with McAfee working with Windows 7.
What I'd like to know is what are Dell doing about this? Is there a solution available now, or else what are Dell going to do about the fact that customers as myself (and there must be a lot) have bought and paid for software that won't work on the Windows 7 computers?
Incidentally, AVG is working very well with Windows 7 ... Maybe Dell might consider a change of affiliation ...

I have Win 7 64 bit running with the McAfee security center on my XPS M2010 okay. In fact, when I upgraded from Vista, clean install, I went to the McAfee support site and downloaded the software. Not sure what version you have but Win 7 compatibility site says McAfee security center version 9 is okay for 32 or 64 bit.
If what Dell sold you truly is not compatible, shame on them. Other than that, it's a McAfee problem. I would contact McAfee support and work with them.
