Office 2003 Word - fatal error not able to resolve

New Optiplex GX-745 (purchased July, 2007)

Microsoft Office Word 2003

Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
The information you were working on might be lost. Microsoft Office Word can try to recover it for you.

Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve Microsoft Office
Word. We will treat this report as confidential and anynymous.

Tried:
* UNinstall Word, re-boot, re-install
* UNinstall entire Office 2003 Enterprise, re-boot
* Install Office 2003 Standard (does not have Publisher 2003)

Error appeared after installing Adobe 8.1 Professional Acrobat.
I have uninstalled that as well.
Re-installed our earlier Adobe 6 Professional.
Also removed FrontPage 2002 (I have requested that our grad school get FrontPage 2003 acad).
Still runs Dreamweaver 4.
This problem has stumped me!

I have Office 2003 Professional running under Vista with no problems.

After you reinstall Office and before you use it, download and install all the updates; restart the PC after all the updates and then try Word and see if works OK.

Search the hard drive (including system and hidden files) for normal.dot. Delete all copies of normal.dot that you find. Launch Word 2003 and it should create a new copy of normal.dot.

When you remove Office, it may not remove (corrupted) normal.dot. And the reinstall typically doesn't overwrite an existing normal.dot file, assuming you may want it.

Fixed?
