Welcome, Diego! Can you let us know how you prepared for the STF exam (some other members have been interested in that topic) and also if the learning and certification experience provided you with any benefits on the job? We love to hear about people's experiences with the EMC Proven Professional program.

EMC Proven Professional program is really good program to enhance the technical skills. I have done my EMCPA & EMCIE(Symmetrix Business Cuntunity Specialsit), it builds our confidence & proves us in the job market too.

That's great to hear, Sanjeet. There are a couple of new articles that list EMC Proven Professionals as high-ranking in terms of opportunity and salary. Was that your experience? Can you tell us more......did your certification help you to keep or to get a job?

Hello Michelle!!
I've prepared STF studying from STF web-based training (the company that I work for payed for the training), later on we've got some VILTs but I had already took the test by the time they got here. I took the example tests on EMC education website and that helped a lot to try me myself up for the real exam and to know how far I was from the real questions.
It brought many beneficts!!! Firts of all My team and I were the first five poeple on my country's company site to get an EMC certification, we got better salaries and better job possitions, I went from just doing some allocations to manage a whole environment with many assets and technologies. A VERY important plus to taslk about is the understanding EMC has about every process and client needs. I couldn't be any happier about EMC and Certs.
Thank you!!!

Hi there !
When I started doing this job I had to certify for Clariion IE, which I earned in about 1 year and coming from a history without any SAN or Storage whatsoever I think I did my best in a reasonable amount of time. After that I got the Clariion IEe, Clariion TA, Business Continuity IE and TA. So I now have 4 certs, one of which is an expert level.

Wow, earning CLARiiON IE in a year without any SAN or Storage experience is an amazing accomplishment! So it sounds as though you had to get that certificaiton, what got you hooked on earning your other certifications?

Uhm.... it was far less than a year actually, but that sounds so.... you know ?
But nevertheless I'm proud of it:
In the first 2 months I studied the WBT's and became Associate. The exam wasn't that hard. 2 Months after that I finally got some ILT's, including the hands on which you need for the IE exam and I certified in 5 months after beginning with Storage. In the end of that same year I did the expert ILT's and certified for IEe about 16 months after starting working for the company.
At the moment I'm working with HDS USP-V and AMS a lot as well as CommVault, but after this contract ends I want to go on with trying to get my IEe on Symm, as well as TAe on Clariion and Symm. But I guess that also depends on the amount of work I have to do, which is unpredictable ATM.

HI Randeep, I'd be glad to help you with any questions about certification exams (but I don't think I helped you with NetWorker). Glad to meet you, though, just let me know what you'd like to hear about and I help.

Hi Michelle,
I work for an EMC distributor in the UK (Avnet) on most of the EMC range. I have Expert Clariion TA certifications, taken quite a few more courses and taking the VMware fast track course in the next few weeks. I have been working with EMC since late 90's.I would happily recommend the Design workshop and Clariion performance course which I really enjoyed and learnt a lot. I have to advise our partners on which courses to take to achive ASN status so fairly well up on the available courses, exams etc.
regards
Roger

Great to meet you Roger; I think I'll start another string to see if your fellow CLARiiON Experts want to add to your recommendations.

I work for an ASN partner and I'm a Clariion "TA", but "IE expert" as well (as well as TA and IE on Symmetrix) and I must say that the performance courses indeed are very good ones (I took them on CX and Symm). I certainly learned a lot about I/O behavior which helps me sizing arrays for specific apps, like Exchange or databases.
