Has anybody resolved this issue? I, too, have a 2161DS,
with 03.00.02 firmware, which I believe is the latest. I am running RCS 1.2 as my console.
I have some standard Avocent DSRIQ-PS2 SIPs (version 3.0.1.0) that I'd like to use. The 2161's diagnostics identifies them as "suspect", whatever that means.
I can confirm that the AVRIQ-USB part works with the latest firmware. I have one in production currently.
Note that the reason the DSRIQ-xxx parts don't work is because they are not the same model line. Even though the Dell uses the DS suffix, it needs the AVRIQ not the DSRIQ parts. I also learned this the hard way and have a non-useable DSRIQ-USB laying around now.
I have DSRIQ-PS2 in two revisions .. the B version work without any problems.. but I have revision N which has the code version 3.0.1.0 as mentioned above.. and I can't get them to appear in my RCS. I was told that DSRIQ-PS2 would work with the 2161DS which I just picked up the other day.
I have updated the firmware for the switch to the latest which is from 2004 from what I can tell.. is there are more up to date fireware which I think would make these Rev. N DSRIQs work with the switch? Their code version is higher than the Rev. B adapters... so the only reason I can see why they don't work is because the 2161DS is just out of date on it's firmware.
I have see the following firmware that is for the 2161DS Version 2 ...
Any idea if this will work with the 2161DS as well? I just don't want to risk screwing my switch attempting to get the DSRIQs to work... I got 10 of them that are that version.. BIG waste of money... but there was nothing I found anywhere that indicated any DSRIQ-PS2 wouldn't work with the 2161DS
Looking forward to someone responding with a solution.
