Dell PowerEdge R720 IDRAC/ Power Supply Issue

Hi Chris, 

Regarding the blinking lights on the power supply, the power supply is same as it came with the server. I've swapped the power supply but the problem still persist.

As seen on page 19 here, a flashing green on the power supply is normally an indication that the power supply is mismatched with the other power supply 
(in terms of efficiency, feature set, health status, and supported voltage). So I would start with verifying that they are indeed matching Power Supplies, if so then I would try swapping it with a known good matching to test, or if the server is out of production then swap the power supplies and see if the issue follows the power supply or stays at the slot. That will identify if the issue is the power supply, or board.

It only occurs to that single power supply, you can't replicate it with any other power supplies can you? If so, the issue is likely the power supply itself, because if it was the slot or server then it would happen on any power supply that is installed in that slot.

Did you swap it with the other power supply in the server, or another known good from another system? When you swapped did the flashing green light stay on that power supply, or does it flash with whatever power supply is installed in that specific slot?

 

 

Hi Chris,

I swapped the power supply, when swapping the power supply the light on the power supply have been turned off completely. Although when the power supply are detached from the server and powered, it does have steady green light.
