Downgrade from Windows 2016 ROK to Windows 2012
Hi All,
We want to downgrade from Windows 2016 to Windows 2012. We currently have Windows 2016 ROK licenses 16 Cores for each of the 2 R530 servers.
Do we need the media kit and activation key for the downgrade ? If yes, where to purchase them ? Can we download the media kit from Microsoft or does it have to come from DELL in a DVD ?
Thanks
Ar

I have the same similar request as my client server need to have compatible with SQL 2008 ie the least I can do is windows 2012 R2 need to be install on it as the server is tied with AD which run on windows server 2003. I tried install from other option from the life controller with a valid Windows 2008 R2 OS but the installation screen always hang at selecting language and the mouse and keyboard can not move at all. No choice I have to switch back to Windows 2012 R2 but I do have the license key although I bought the server OEM License from DELL is ROK version.
Can you check for me whether I can downgrade the server 2016 standard 16 core to 2012R2 standard?
