How many network adapters can I install on PowerEdge 1950
Hi,
I would be happy to have PE1950 with six ethernet ports:
- Dual Embedded Broadcom® NetXtreme II 5708 Gigabit Ethernet NIC
- additional 2x Intel PRO 1000PT 1GbE Dual Port NIC, PCIe-4
Is it possible techically?
Are default Broadcom NICs and/or default SAS controller embedded into motherboard or occupy pci-e slots?
With 2 PCe riser option and no other cards, Configurator still does not allow me to get this configuration. As a result I get only one Intel PRO 1000PT 1GbE Dual Port NIC.
Thank you.
Mikhail
PS Is DRAC included into modern Dell PE Servers?

The intergrated RAID controllers for the system fit into a sideplane and would not occupy one of the rear PCI-E slots, which would be one x8 and one x4. I would gather that you might be able to use the quad port Intel NIC in the PCI-E x4 slot if you wanted, but you should be able to use two dual port NICs as well. Here are some links that may assist:
PRO/1000 VT Quad Port

All available NICs for the PE 1950 (note, your riser configuration may not allow all NICs listed):
