PowerEdge R330 RAID issue

Hi all, I've got a new Dell PowerEdge R330, with 2 DELL 1TB SAS Drives, and 2 DELL 400GB SSD Drives. The controller is H330, with 4 slots. I have updated all hardware that needed updating via the Lifecycle platform. What I'd like to do is create a RAID1 logical drive for the two SAS disks, and another one for the SSD disks. My issue is that the controller seems to be able to handle just one logical drive. After creating one RAID configuration, and then proceeding to create the second , it deletes the first one. Are there some settings that I'm missing, or need tweaking? Thanks a lot for your help, and happy new year to all

Hello

It sounds like you are using the OS deployment feature in the LifeCycle Controller. The virtual disk wizard in the OS deployment is only intended to create a single virtual disk to install the OS. You should create the second virtual disk after deployment. If you want to create multiple virtual disks before deployment then create them before using the deployment wizard and skip that step during OS deployment.

You can find manuals on the system support page. Controller manuals can be found on the controller support page. I think you can have more than one disk type on the H330, but you can verify by reviewing the manual.

Hi Daniel

Thank you for your help, you are spot on. It seems that the issue was the order in which the virtual disks were created.

For future reference, the order of actions that got it right was:

- Enter LifeCycle Controller and create your main RAID configuration (the one with O/S on)

- Install your O/S

- Enter BIOS, Device Manager, and create your other RAID configurations

Thanks
