PowerEdge R510 - Cannot update BIOS

Question

Hello, I have a PowerEdge R510 that needs a BIOS update. At present, the version that is installed is 1.12.0 and needs to go to 1.14.0 I have the exe downloaded from Dell and when I run it, it gives a message, 'The Update Package is invalid for the current system. Please contact the administrator'. I have tried to update the BIOS to version 1.13.0 and it gives me the same message. I have iDRAC 6 and unable to update the BIOS through the iDRAC since it does not support it. I have not tried to update through bootable usb because I am unable to go to physically to the server because I am working from home. So that is one option that has not been tried. It is frustrating because I have used the same update package on other R510 systems and did not have any issues. Is there a way I can update it through the iDRAC after extracting the exe file? Is there any other way that I can update the BIOS? Also, I cannot reboot the server anytime since it a production one so it will be rebooted during the patching cycle only. Any help is appreciated. Is this what you are running?

You can run this same package from the iDRAC console to upgrade it.

If you have let your iDRAC/LCC firmware get out of date, you may need to update that first.

You may also be able to download the SUU utility and run from within the Windows OS to update everything.

Yes, I am using the same BIOS file to update.

I am using iDRAC 6 so I cannot update the BIOS through it because it throws an error when I attempt it.

My iDRAC/LCC version is up-to-date.

What is 'SUU' utility?
