PowerEdge R730 bad memory slot

Question

I have a PowerEdge R730 (out of Warranty) with 8x8gb Memory Modules on slots A1-4,B1-4. Last night I attempted to upgrade the server to 128gb by populating slots A5-8,B5-8 with identical memory. Upon powering up the server I started getting some unrecoverable memory errors. After some trial and error, I determined that the B5 slot on the motherboard is bad. If that slot is populated, I get errors. Right now I have 96gb in the server using A1,A2,A3,A4,A6,A7,B1,B2,B3,B4,B6,B7. I know this is not a recommended configuration based on documentation but DRAC isn't complaining and Windows seems to be happy. Is there any potential downside to running in this configuration? Since it is B5 that is bad, the only other way I could get above 64gb is to replace all the 8gb modules with 16gb.
