R520 memory configuration.

Hi,

I have an R520 with 4 x 16GB DDR3 1600 MHz DIMMs and I am looking to add in another 4 of the same size and speed, with part number JDF1M.

I was expecting slots A1,B1,A2,B2 to be populated, but it is A2,B2,A3,B3.

Is it OK for me to add the new DIMMs in to A1,B1 and then A4 and B4 ?  Just wanted to double check in case this had any specific configuration required.

Hello GlasgIT,

I see you are planning to add additional memory matching what you currently have.

Depending on what your memory mode in the BIOS -

If you have, or change to, Advanced ECC use:

A2, A3, A5, A6, B2, B3, B5, B6

If you have, or change to, Optimized mode you can use:

A1, A2, A3, A4, B1, B2, B3, B4

Memory guideline on Page 37-41 Modes described here also : https://dell.to/3jAAVcI

Please let me know if this helps.
