Hi Sarbast,

Internal GPU cards are not supported on the PowerEdge R720xd. Your best chance at getting this to work is to compare the GTX 460's specifications (https://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-460/specifications) with the server's available processing power, memory, and other resources. Page 64 of this guide https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/poweredge-r720_owners-manual_en-us.pdf shows the R720xd's expansion card requirements (risers, slot order, link width, etc). The GTX 460 is a x16 card. PCIe slots 4 and 6 are the only x16 slots in this server. Slot 4 is only available in dual CPU configurations, so that leaves slot 6 if only one CPU is installed. Both slots 4 and 6 require a riser (2 or 3) to be installed in order to use these slots. Another potential issue is driver support. The GTX 460 has been validated for Windows 7, XP, and other client operating systems, for which the R720xd has no available drivers.

Most servers do not support GPUs for graphics rendering. Precision Workstations and gaming PCs are better suited for this purpose as they support more GPUs and offer more processing power, memory, etc. than your standard PC.

Thanks,
