Changing Recoverpoint 4.0 Splitter IPs

Hi All,

I'm fairly new to Recoverpoint and next week have to reconfigure a system as the IP addresses have changed.

We have VNX based splitters and the (two site) setup was all working nicely, but the IP addresses for the VNX Management ports have been changed.

I believe that I need to update the splitter information in Recoverpoint as a result of this, but I'm not sure how/where to do this.

Can anyone give a quick guide on how (if possible) this can be done?

Unfortunately, I don't have any access to Recoverpoint 4.0 to try and figure it out, and I'd really like to have some idea of what I'm doing before getting to the customer

On a side note, is there any simluator for Recoverpoint 4.0 that I could download, just so I can get more familiar with the GUI etc??

Many Thanks

Hi Ernes,

Thanks for the (very!) quick reply

From that window can I right click and edit the splitter properties (eg. change the IP) ?

Or:-

Do I have to remove the currently added splitters and then re-add using the new IP's?

If I have to do this, is there anything I have to do at the VNX to allow the new connection?

Many Thanks

You can't right-click. Just click on the credentials tab. You don't have to remove the splitter and re-add it.

You don't need to do anything on the VNX side. Just FYI. The splitter credentials aren't used unless you are collecting logs. You don't have to have the credentials in place in order for you to start replicating.

Hi,

I have a similar situation but I have to change all IP addresses, VNX, RecoverPoint LAN, WAN and Cluster IP.

The solution is not yet in production and only the clusters are setup on each site, there is no replication yet.

How can I change all the Recoverpoint IP addresses?

How long will this take?

Regards

Ron

Hi all,

if you have changed the storage ip address you have to open a SR because the support must delete the psm configuration in the array.

Hi Ron,

You can use the Deployment Manager Modifications Wizard to change the RP IP addressing but once the clusters are deployed with the VNX SP IP addresses you need to engage support to manage this change.

I would consider redeployment as it could be quicker and cleaner where RP/SE concerned. Please ensure you remove any config in RP and detach all volumes from the splitters, remove all RP/SE entries in the VNX arrays prior to redeployment and ensure you reinstall the iso on the RPAs.

Rich
