BCV - BCV Clone

Running Replication Manager 5.0.4...

I am doing testing right now and I have the following

Windows 2003 (x64) host running SE 6.4.3 (x32)*
This host has BCVs attached and I am trying to clone
to a target BCV.

*This is because SE (x64) not supported with RM.

When I run in simulate mode, it tells me
"7DA is a BCV volume; it cannot be replicated"

I made sure through symdev show that the source BCV (7DA) showed it
was "Never Established"

Why is this?....I took the destination BCV away from RM
and did a symclone command using the source BCV and it
worked just fine.

Why will this not work under RM?

I am also curious when the (x64) version of RM will be available since
I am running in production SRDF/CE (x64) with SE (x64) and I do want to
clone that system. One thread I read, said it should be available Dec '07.
I have not heard of it yet...

Any help on either issue would be greately appreciated

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,
Welcome to RM Forums.

The error means that RM thinks you are trying to replicate BCV 7DA as if it were a source volume, and not a replication volume.

You cannot currently use a BCV as a source volume in RM. You could file a product enchancement request via Powerlink in order to do this.

In terms of using 32-bit Solutions Enabler, that restriction of course does apply. There is a 64-bit version of RM Client but is only released for use with SRDF/CE 2.x and is available via the RPQ channel. I believe there is no date yet in terms of a native x64 IRCCD (RM Agent).
Again, though, please file an enhancement request for same to highlight your interest in same.

Thanks - James.

Thanks for the quick response...

I will get with my CE on getting the RPQ for the x64 version of RM Client.
We are running SRDF/CE 2.2.0.11 currently.

As far as RM itself, I am disappointed in the fact that with symclone I can do things but yet RM ties my hands.

Very long time to add a reply, but did you ever get around this limitation of not being able to use a BCV as the source?  I have this same issue, and like you am very disappointed that RM limits the functionality that I can already do with SE/SYMCLI.  Even ECC will allow you to clone from BCV but does not perfom the additional steps of mounting and such that RM is designed for.
