Can not retrieve configuration from the primary node on Windows 2008
Enviroment: AutoStart 5.4 build 195 + Windows 2008
One node is already installed with node name as "cnsqaenvision6".
For the second node, if you choose "Retrieve Configuation Now" duing installation, you will ge one warning dialog -- The installation was unable to retrieve the domain name and port number from the specified primary node. Please verify the supplied information, or enter the data manually.
But you can still ping the another node with its node name. The two nodes/servers are within the same workgroup.
The this works well on Windows 2003. Do any one have simillar problems?

From the last record, you can see that only one TCP request is send to destination node. But no ack response from destination node. I am afraied that there must be something related to network/security configuration.
Thanks

Is the firewall invalid?

Both firewalls of windows 2008 are turned off and no other antivirus software are installed.
Thanks

The service is started on both servers.
And one error is reported as following when clicking Restrieve Configuration Now
Product: AutoStart 5.4.0 -- 1: FAIL/ERROR : RegConnectRegistry(pMachineName, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, &hkResult)

Do you have any idea to configure the system to bypass this porblem?

Hi,
Can you connect it with first node by the reg query command?
Example:
reg query \\ \HKLM\software

Hi,
This result means that it is the problem of the OS.
I think that it is a problem of the security.
Please investigate the setting of the OS thoroughly again.
Or you should reinstall OS.

If I add read pemission to "Networks" on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurePipeServers\winreg on the initial server then the second server can run reg requery successfully.
But run the AutoStart setup again it still can not reterieve the configuration.
Any other ideas?

Yes, they have the same administrator password.
Usually the two servers are run by a user call A which is the administrator, A is created on both of them. And A has the same password on the two servers.
Thanks

Hi,
You should not change this value.
I think that I complicate the problem.
Because the problem doesn't occur in my environment.
Moreover, the Administrators group can access it by default.
Is the password of administrator the same?

Hi,
Are this server and the user registered with the console?

Hi Yoshinobu Ito,
AutoStart is integrated into our solution and we need to provide support to our users. It is desired to support retreiving configuration but acturally not -- intuitively we will be afraid whether the dual servers can work if it can not retrieve configuration from the primary node and decide whether to quit the installation.
There should be some reason and we'd better to know why.
Thanks

Hi,
Please input the Domain name with the manual according to this explanation.
The installation is possible if it does so.
I cannot understand why you investigate it.

Hi,
I reproduced it.
And, it was possible to install it correctly by inputting the domain name with the manual.
Only the administrators succeeds in the mechanism of this Retrieve.
It is a peculiar problem to Windows2008.
Therefore, the thing that there is a change in the specification of the security of Windows2008 might be shown.
Therefore, if the reason is pursued, it might be difficult.
