Replication Manager 5.4.2 and VNX running Flare 32
Hi all,
I'm currently setting up RM for a VNX running Flare 32. It seems the validation files are not up to date. The client verification throws errors on admsnap 2.30 and Naviseccli 7.32.
Does anybody know if the combination of Flare 32 (for SnapView Snaps) and the CLI and admsnap will wirk somehow?
Regards
Martin

Martin,
Make sure you have the latest validation XML files which are dated: 09/10/2012. They can be obtained from support.emc.com and searching for "validation files" and limit the search to "Downloads". You will find the following at the top of the list.
https://download.emc.com/downloads/DL34489_Replication_Manager_Validation_Zip_file_.zip
You can refer to the following KB article for instructions on how to replace them:
emc270723: "Replication Manager: How to update the host validation file (RMSupportedVersions_XXX.xml)"

RM Does support Flare 32, and you are required to have Naviseccli version 32 to work with it.
RM only supports the SnapView snaps, NOT the advanced snaps for the VNX

Mark, you sure you have the Host Validation files with the Oct 29th date?
I just downloaded them and see NaviSecCli mentioning version 32:

Hi, The validation doesn't work for me though. I get the below error
WARNING: The software Navisphere Secure CLI 7.32.0.5.54 is not supported by current version of the EMC Replication Manager Agent. Please refer to the Replication Manager support matrix for the list of Navisphere Secure CLI versions supported.
ERROR: The software Navisphere Admsnap 2.32.0.0.3 is not supported by current version of the EMC Replication Manager Agent. Please refer to the Replication Manager support matrix for the list of versions supported.
I found the validation file says 5.32 as supported for navicli & admsnap, but the actual software version number is 7.32 for Navicli and 2.32 for admsnap. Not sure if this is the issue.

Not Sure if you got any solution, however I can tell you what I'm going through with following setup.
Setup Details :
VNX 5500 with 5.32
Client: HP-UX 11.23
PowerPath 5.1 ( Also tried 5.2, not supported by RM)
NAVICLI 7.32.0.5.54
admsnap V2.30.0.0.3
UNIAGENT 1.2.1.1.0017
SYMCLI V7.4.0.0
Replication Manager 5.4.2
1.Replication manager does not support New VNX snapshots ( only traditional Snapview Snapshot and SanpView Clones are supported).
2. PowerPath reports path error on unrelated LUNS ( LUNs which are not part of replication manager Job) after unmounting, during the process of unpresenting LUN to the host.
I have an SR for this, support was thinking there is exessive trusspassing of lun but it was not the case, dont know exactly what is the issue, my guess is this is something to do with Unisphere Agent or Navisphere Secure CLI.
I do get the messege on replivation manager even with latest (01-Nov-2012) validation file "
WARNING: The software Navisphere Secure CLI 7.32.0.5.54 is not supported by current version of the EMC Replication Manager Agent. Please refer to the Replication Manager support matrix for the list of Navisphere Secure CLI versions supported."
I dont get the warning for admsnap.
Even though I get above errors/warnings, RM currently works.
Thanks

Hi, I have the same issue. The latest validation Files does not cover the NaviCLI 7.32 and admsnap 2.32.
You can check this by clicking "View Validation File" at Host Properities screen.

I am told the Naviseccli and ADMSnap for flare 32 issue is fixed in RM 5.4.3, which will be available next month. (Dec 2012) At this time, that's all I can do for you :-)
(No RM 5.4.2 fix at this time)

Hi,
RM 5.4.3 resolved this issue on the system that I installed it on. There is also a patch available for 5.4.2 reference URM00090984.
Thanks,
Frank
