Update CMC Poweredge M1000e

Good Morning,
I would like to ask you a question. the case is as follows:
We need to update the network switches (PowerConnect M620) inside a PowerEdge M1000e chassis. We have been reviewing and before we would have to update the CMC of the chassis.
The query would be: Is there a business discontinuity in the CMC update? Are the blades and other devices on the chassis still working during the CMC update process?

Thanks in advanced

Regards

Hello,
I saw under another post that Shine answered your question https://dell.to/3vaSIgX

I want to share the reference link by adding this part to contribute https://dell.to/3BFkuVt

note: most likely the fans will run 100% during the CMC update.

Update Firmware for Management Consoles Without Servers Downtime

You can update firmware for management consoles for CMC, iDRAC and Lifecycle Controller without downtime on the servers:
  1. In a scenario, where both the primary and the standby CMC is present, you can update the CMC firmware without servers or IOMs downtime.
  2. To update firmware on the primary CMC, see the Updating Firmware section.
When you update firmware on the primary CMC, the standby CMC takes on the role of the primary CMC. Hence, IOMs and servers downtime does not occur.

NOTE: The firmware update process impacts only the management consoles of IOM and iDRAC servers. There is no impact on the external connectivity between the servers and IOMs.

  3. To update iDRAC or Lifecycle Controller firmware without a downtime of chassis, perform the update using the Lifecycle Controller service. For information on updating server component firmware using Lifecycle Controller, see the Upgrading Server Component Firmware section.

NOTE: While updating any other components such as Mezzanine cards, NDC controllers, and BIOS, a downtime of the servers occurs.

Hope this helps!
