How to subscribe to SMARTS audit trail attributes in watch4net
Hi ,
Does anyone know how to subscribe to attributes like user_note , eventType (NOTIFY/CLEAR/ACKNOWLEDGE/TAKE_OWNERSHIP etc.) from SMARTS NL's in the Watch4Net reports ? Doesn't look like a feature available OOB to me .. Any workarounds /suggestions will be helpful.
Thanks,
Malar

Hi Malar,
Have you seen this KB article on the Event Change Detector:
https://support.emc.com/kb/176925 - Watch4net: How to install the Event Change Detector
The Event Change Detector captures changes to the notifications fields.
Kind Regards,

Thanks Paul , We do have the Event detector module installed. I am looking for the attribute that describes the type of event -i.e. whether it is a NOTIFY or a CLEAR or a TAKE_OWNERSHIP or Acknowledgement so that one can filter on NOTIFY for a particular device or partType to find out the no. of alerts from that device/partType . Would you know which attribute i can subscribe to retrieve this info ?

Hi Malarvizhi,
Customizing the Event Change Detector for your requirements is not very straight-forward and would most likely require a Professional Services engagement to get it working as you require.
For tracking the notification updates of NOTIFY and CLEAR it is the Active field which is updated and then the detail of the change are added to the Audit log.
For TAKE_OWNERSHIP it is the Owner attribute of the notification which is updated.
I believe the update in the change-detector.xml would be something like the lines below, however, I have not tested this customization. so please implement in a test environment to ensure it does what you require:
