Time to replace the drive.  If the system is under warranty, you will need to contact Dell support for a replacement.

But the disk is working fine as external hard disk so it looks like the disk is working fine or am I missing something?

It depends on where you're not seeing the disc.  Is it not showing up at all in Setup (F2 at powerup), or is it showing up there, but not as a bootable device (meaning a damaged boot sector)?

If it's not showing up at all, have you tried another drive?  If two drives don't show up, chances are the mainboard is bad.  If one does but the other doesn't, chances are the drive is bad.

It is not showing at all & I tried other device which is also not showing..do I need to change the main board? Can I do it myself?

Thanks!

Sounds like it - but on a low-end model like this one, the cost of a board ($200-300) likely makes a replacement system a better idea.

Hai,

Connect your hard disk as a external drive and take backup of your important files on another location.

After taking backup, connect it on your PC and reinstall your operating system.

Hope your issue will get solved.

Thanks for the idea but I am unable to find the product key for Windows 10 . I am using below steps -

removed the hard drive & copied all data

Created boot able USB using microsoft media

Do I need the product key for Windows 10 or I can continue reinstalling?

Hi SukhiNabha,

If your computer have recovery partition, you can re-install operating system using the recovery partition. Otherwise, you need to purchase the operating system from microsoft website. Please make sure whether your computer have recovery partition or not?
