Add Second HD
I have a Dell 8400 with SATA HD. I have an old Dell 4100 I don't use with an EIDE HD. Is it possible to add this EIDE HD to my Dell 8400?? Or am I better off buying a box for the EIDE HD and using as an external USB drive?

Thanks for the fast response! Are you sure this will work? The power cable to the HD in my 8400 is a 5 pin connector. This adapter does not appear to account for that---- or am I just not seeing the whole picture??

They do sell adapters that allow you to use your EIDE hard drive in a PC with SATA. http://www.satacables.com/html/sata-acessories.html

You can use a SATA power connector to 4-pin molex adaptor shown HERE, but try to buy it locally, because the S&H, is ridiculous
Personally, I've found it easier to use a USB 2.0, powered IDE external enclosure, like THIS

Thanks Bev!
So I need the IDE/SATA adapter card mentioned above and the molex adapter for the power cable, right? Or an external box with a USB cable. It's funny how they make no mention of the need for a power cable adapter where they sell the IDE/SATA adapter card. They just let you think that's all you need.
Thanks for your help!

You are welcome.
A hint: If you use the external enclosure for the IDE hard drive, remember to set the 'Jumpers' to the 'Master' setting.
