Adding SSD to OPTIPLEX 7040MT

I am interested in OPTIPLEX 7040MT, but I want to add an SSD, will it void the warranty?

All local (Indonesia) Dell resellers told me that it would void the warranty. But I read somewhere in this forum that it would not void the warranty.

Hi SAIDBAJRY,

Thank you for reaching out to Dell Community Forum.

If the SSD is purchased through Dell and installed in the system and any issues occurs because of the SSD, then yes the warranty will be covered (Please note: SSD will have a separate warranty and will not be covered by the system warranty).

Now if the SSD is purchased from a retailer or reseller, then any issues occurring due to this component or any issue with the SSD will not be covered under warranty.

Note: please don't mention the service tag or email id on the public forum as it contains your personal information

Did exactly this (France) and had a problem with the installation. Warranty still worked fine.
