Adding a SSD

Hi

I am interested in adding a SSD to an Inspiron 17-5759 laptop which has a 1TB HD. Would I have to remove the HD to fit a SSD?

There is space for only one internal 2.5" device, and no M.2 or mSATA drives are supported - so, you will need to remove the hard drive to install an SSD.  If you can find an adapter and are willing to sacrifice the DVD drive, you may be able to mount the hard drive in place of the optical drive.

Hi

Would have the SSD drive the same performance if mounted in place of the optical drive as in place of the other hard drive? Because, maybe tha bay of the optical drive is not the same Sata version...

Thanks

Most notebooks use a SATA 3G controller for the optical drive - so you'll get half what you'll see from mounting the SSD in place of the hard drive.
