Assembly 24X CDRW/DVD Combo Drive
I would like to replace the CD drive on my D600 Latitude laptop. Searching compatible drives for my
D600 laptop, the search lists a replacement drive, "Assembly 24X CDRW/DVD Combo Drive". The spec sheet lists a long list of codes which leads me to believe that I would be shipped a number of parts that I would have to build a drive from. What does the term "assembly" mean?

assembly usually refers to complete units. If you could
supply a link to that unit, we may be able to verify.

Copy the URL (http:// etc.) at the top of the Web page while viewing it then paste it into the post.

Thank you for the directions. The URL I was looking at is:
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/System_Drives/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=D9330&mfgpid=157951&chassisid=8482
Does that help?

The link you have supplied may have been good enough for me to
understand the original one you saw. It is a kit. The drive is
assembled but includes additional parts required for installation;
these parts are listed separately as 'Component Parts' in the
Highlights section of the page. Thus, the parts that come as part
of the kit may or may not be used depending on your system and
are included as a convenience.
