Blu ray player wont play movies on my alienware m17x...HELP ME PLZ

ok so i've had my laptop since december and i've tried to watch 4 Bluray movies on it. star treck,district 9,terminator: salvation, and funny people. the only one that has worked is funny people and i dont know why. im thinking i need to update my firmware or something idk. when i instert the disk it loads for a few seconds and then just stops and i open up my media player and it says the disk is empty. any ideas?
