Bluescreen crash when blank CD inserted
Dell Dim 3000 crashes with blue screen warning about protecting computer when blank CD inserted in CD Drive.
Works ok with prerecorded storebought music CD. I have restored back 1 month and deleted 'value data' from filters in a registry key as suggested in the forum.
Still does it. Didn't use to do this. Any ideas????

There is a relatively well known blue screen error associated with Sonic DLA. If this program is installed, uninstall it and see if that corrects the problem.
If that does not fix your blue screen error, please post the entire error.

I uninstalled Sonic DLA. Did not help.
Bluescreen codes are as follows: "STOP: 0x00000019 (0x00000020, 0x86796EFO, 0x86796F08, Ox1A030001)"

I'm finding recommendations to turn off the XP CD burning wizard. However, let's try one thing at a time. First, disable autoplay for blank CDs, as described here. When you insert a blank CD, nothing should happen. Now try running either your regular burning program (Roxio or Sonic) and see if you are able to write to a blank CD.

Did that. Selected every media option under autoplay tab, in turn, and applied "take no action" to each. Still bluescreen crash, but now with several different codes as follows:
0x00000019 (0x00000020, 0x85C776EO, 0x85C776F8, 0x1A30001)

Went to drive, porperties, recording tab and the box labeled "enable CD recording on this drive" WAS NOT Checked. Don't know why.
Since this was the case and was not able to follow your advice, I didn't try to load CD. So, I am right where I was the last time I posted. What next?
Should I reset the autoplay feature on my multimedia types?

Ok, try this. Go to drive properties for your burner and in the recording tab, disable CD burning. See if that stops this error.

I'm really baffled by this. I'm not seeing a consistent picture when searching this error. Some of them recommend updating the video driver. Why don't you check downloads for an updated video driver and see if that helps.

I checked for video driver updates. None. Mine was current.
FYI, also checked DVD drive. After inserting a blank DVD+R, then right click, OPEN, get a window that says "please insert a disk in drive D" like there wasn't one already there. However, a prerecorded DVD+R disk launches and starts playing automatically.
YOU'RE BAFFLED..........?

One other thing, This AM I opened my "SONIC record now" program, clicked "check for drivers" and it didn't show me any. Just says "no recorder".
Don't know how this plays with what I'm getting on me DVD and CD drives as related above. Not that smart to know. Maybe it'll be a clue to someone out there.

So Sonic does not recognize the DVD as a burner. I think deleting the upper/lower filters may help. Please go to the CD/DVD FAQ and find the article titled "code 39 error". Follow that procedure.
