Hi,
I'm guessing my Dell's only got a 1.0 USB speed, but if I was to put a USB 2.0 hub in that, would the USB hub ports still be 2.0 even though it's running through a USB 1.0? Ive been assuming that it will just be 1.0.
Also it looks like I have two spare slots next to my hard drive. Can you suggest anything i can put in there at all?
Cheers
Gav

Cool, with regards to compatibility with PCMCIA cards and my C600, would all types fit mine. Shall I look for anything in particular when looking for a card?

There is now 512MB total from one Dell PC100 DIMM and one PC133 DIMM. It works without a problem, clearly there is some risk for us.
Now, I was wondering if the ATA100 interface drive will work with a C600.
I still want to get a 100 or 120 GB drive and have a newer C840 I could use it in if it failed to work.
Any thoughts on the C600 interface and any experience using big drives on a C600 ?

I've upgraded to 512MB RAM too.
ATA100 should be compatible and will work fine.
I've upgraded to a 60GB hard drive in my C600. All works a treat.

Has anyone managed to get an 80, 100 or 120 GB drive to run in a C600 ?
My current 40 is booting intermittantly, so I need something pretty soon.
I am hoping at least an 80 will work and I am running the latest BIOS.
Thanks

A few months ago, I replaced my C600's original Dell drive with an 80gb Samsung MP0804H. I was purely looking for the extra space, but I was delighted to also get a noticeable speed boost.
BTW, I had a false start with a 100gb Samsung drive (I can't remember it's type, but it was different from the 80gb as that's the max for that particular range). As soon as I powered that up, it asked me for a password. This was deeply puzzling for myself (and the store) as I had had to tear open the disk's bag and so it wasn't a return.
I now see from other posts in the forum that this is a known problem with the C600 for some disks types. Fortunately for me, this was the last 100gb the store had and so I ended up with the 80gb, which worked straight out of the box.
Regards,
Brian.
