Changing RAID partition size on an XPS420 running Vista

Hi all

I have an XPS420 (on Vista) with 2x320gb drives configured as RAID 1. Within the array, there's the standard DELL recovery (E:) the main partition (C:) and a backup partition (D:).

C is configured with 212gb, and D with 70gb.

Drive D is getting dangerously close to capacity - I use it to back up data files every night using the wonderful SyncToy. Drive C on the other hand still has 30gb of space on it.

So what I want to do is to shrink drive C by 10gb and expand D by the same amount.

I read somewhere that I can simply use the disk management tool in Vista to shrink and expand the relevant volumes, and then just restart for eveything to snap back into place with the new partition sizes - without the need for a full back up or restore.

Is this true ? Is it really so easy ? Or should I go about it another way ?

Thanks for any advice or help you're able to offer.

Joe

I think you can use Aomei Partition Assistant Serve Edition to resize partition.
