Considering new hard drive for my 1720.
I have upgraded my 1720 laptop and want to add or update my existing hard drive. Does Dell have any Velociraptor speed drives for a laptop?>

The Velociraptor is not a notebook drive; it's designed for desktops.
The fastest notebook drives are 7200 rpm.

Thanks Diamond - does Dell offer any fast drives that I can buy and use to replace existing drives? Can a second drive be added?

You can use any 7200 rpm 2.5" 9.5 mm SATA notebook drive (Note: the WD Velociraptor is NOT a notebook drive) you wish.
You can add a second drive to this model - to do so, you will need to order a carrier, interposer and set of screws from Dell for the second drive.
