DVD RWBD not recognized

Have XPS 17 with DVDRWBD drive DS-6E2SH not being recognized by Windows 7 Pro - registry corrupt?  Device mgr shows yellow ! and update driver responds with most current driver installed.  MSSG:   Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
