Dell Branded Samsung 840pro SSD
Hi.
I have Dell Branded (OEM)
Samsung SM841 SSD.
I am hoping that Dell would have updated Firmware available as
download.
Samsung has good firmware so after this later updates would probably be quite
unnecessary.
My drive has old DXM01D0Q and the latest from Samsung would be DXM06B0Q.

Hi Erkki82,
Go here for downloads. You should search by model of laptop rather than service tag number since that will generally give you a bigger set of options.

Thanks,
But there is no available Firmware at the moment.
or at least nowhere to be found
Have looked most of the newer laptops all through. :emotion-1:
Hope Dell would provide one Firmware update at least...

So nothing so far?
No update, no nothing?
Current firmware has potential dying risk, and I am bit afraid of using it.
Should not be big problem for company to release the updated firmware.

Also very interested in this. Please update if you come across a firmware update via Dell or other ways. Hopefully Dell gets their head out of the sand on SSD firmware support.

Also interesting in a firmware update, have here a sm841 who produces many bluescreens, but chkdsk doesn't find anything,
I think a firmware upgrade would help.

I need the SM841 SSD firmware update as well. Or, how about downloads of the device software?
Samsung knows how to post Firmware and Software downloads online. What is Dell's excuse?
Why is it that Dell takes a Samsung product and ruins it by changing it to an OEM Samsung product so that it cannot be used properly?
Why does Samsung allow Dell to sully their name by association to their manufactured product.
Is there a reason why Dell is driving their company into the ground?
They were once a respected computer maker with good prices-- I once even encouraged my boss to by a Dell.
Now, they are just a handicapped machine--the AOL of computers.
Am I allowed to say this in Dell Support? Or, do they suppress communication that identifies Dell as the elephant in the room?
Dell can just point to a Q&A section, open up the forum and ignore its responsibility to confront the problem.
Talk amongst yourselves and leave Dell alone.

Good luck! I have given up on Dell ever releasing a firmware update for this. I suggest everyone spam Dell support every day if we have any hopes at all.

Time to get this thread back up & running.
Hello 2014 and this problem still unsolved.
I'm sure spamming is not the answer.
Hope Dell would ask from Samsung to make firmware available and just make it happen.

Can't you just get the Firmware update from Samsung. I doubt Dell has changed the drive physically to prevent it at all.

I will answer this bit more precisely.
Samsung has made OEM drive for Dell and most likely not hardware level limitation, but at least
firmware level limitation is in the drives. = Samsung Magician software or other samsung sofware does not work with the drives. Including firmware updates.
So if DELL would please ask for Samsung to produce at least one update for us.

Samsung has just released a new firmware update for Dell PM841 mSATA and few other models (not Samsung) so maybe we will receive something?
